Review: This 'Ain't' behaves fast, loose and sassy
When the cast of "Ain't Misbehavin'" sings "This Joint Is Jumpin'" at the end of act one, well, that ain't jive, honey. It's jumpin'. The John Beasley Theater's production of this Fats Waller revue, which won the best-musical Tony in 1978, is a slightly naughty, slightly bawdy, whole-lot-entertaining evening of script-free song and dance.

Review: Police return to Omaha, and fans pull over to party
On Wednesday, the Police delivered fan favorites 26 years after their last gig here. "It's nice to be back in Omaha. The Police haven't played here since 1982. I was 10 at the time," Sting joked, "but we are still the same band." And a great one at that.

Two strong reasons to take note of "Shotgun Stories," a family feud set in present-day Arkansas: First-time screenwriter-director Jeff Nichols has made a taut, brooding movie that conveys a constant sense of dread and inevitability. The other reason to catch it is a terrific performance by Michael Shannon as Son Hayes.

O!s bring in big dough on auction block
SO!ld. The auction of the 22 sculptures from the O! Public Art Project raised $29,000 for the Behavioral Health Support Foundation and some spending cash for participating artists. Each of the 24 artists taking part in the project received $200.

Review: Ryerson an older, wiser Emile than he was in '88 triumph
Greg Ryerson, a native of Fremont, Neb., had sung opera across the United States, in Canada and in Australia when the Omaha Community Playhouse first asked him to play Emile in 1988. He was 35, young for the role, but the show earned raves and an extended run that set an attendance record. Now, Ryerson said, he's the right age to play Emile.
